Social systems develop when, on the one hand, they manage to put into practice with virtuous traits a process that the Austrian economist Joseph Schumpeter defined as "creative destruction", and on the other, when they get most of the population to take an active part in this process. To illustrate, among others, the case of the development and subsequent decline of Venice, the study will present how integration policies have always favored the social and economic growth of societies. It will also present how modern democracies should continue to deal with integration and sustainability, and should do so with particular attention to transgenerational integration. Los sistemas sociales se desarrollan cuando, por un lado, consiguen poner en acto con rasgos virtuosos un proceso que el economista austriaco Joseph Schumpeter definía como "destrucción creativa", y por otro, cuando consiguen que tome parte activa en este proceso la mayor parte de la población. Para ilustrar, entre otros, el caso del desarrollo y posterior decadencia de Venecia, el estudio presentará cómo las políticas de integración siempre han favorecido el crecimiento social y económico de las sociedades. Presentará, además, cómo las democracias modernas deben continuar ocupándose de la integración y la sostenibilidad, y lo deben hacer prestando una atención particular a la integración transgeneracional.
