Currently all software solutions for the manage-ment of e-media access from computers outside the uni-versities' IP ranges are based on commercial software. The most often used solution is a Virtual Private Netz-work (VPN) tunnel, but rewiting reverse proxies like EZ-Proxy from OCLC or the Hidden Automatic Navigator from H+H Software GmbH are used more and more. This article shall demonstrate in a proof of concept that the use of free open-source software to realize a proxy-based solution for e-media access management is possible. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Zusammenfassung: So gut wie alle derzeit eingesetzten Lösungen für die Regelung des Zugriffs von Rechnern au-ßerhalb des Campus-Netzwerks auf lizenzierte E-Medien-inhalte bei Verlagsservern werden über kommerzielle Produkte realisiert. Die gegenwärtig am weitesten ver-breitete Lösung ist die Tunnel-Lösung via Virtual Private Netzwork; aber auch der EZProxy von OCLC oder der Hidden Automatic Navigator der H+H Software GmbH werden mehr und mehr eingesetzt. Dieser Artikel soll im Rahmen eines Proof of Concept zeigen, dass man auch mit freier Open-Source-Software eine preiswerte Proxy-Lösung für den E-Medienzugriff realisieren kann.
