Bei vielen Anwendungen ist es wünschenswert, dass verschiedene Abläufe für einen Benutzer parallel ablaufen. So möchte z.B. ein Nutzer eine Datei aus dem Internet laden, während er einen Text in einem Fenster des Bildschirms schreibt.
