This article discusses the importance of an Extensible Markup Language (XML) based method of retrieving, exchanging and storing bibliographic metadata in the International Construction Database, or ICONDA Bilbiographic. It also talks about development of the Bibliographic Metadata Format (BMF) which uses the XML and works similar to other data elements. The BMF allows for bibliographic record exchange, and storage in a database.
