The mobile conquers the world. The need in a comprehensive and systemized multiedge testing approach is rising along with mobile apps becoming even more complex. As a leader in enterprise market, Apple iOS has been chosen as a target mobile platform for the study. The authors have investigated aspects that influence functional testing of iOS apps in particular, and mobile - in general. The study also exposes the security capabilities and risks that often are not mitigated in favor of time to market rush. Investigation and clustering of mobile UI test automation tools is performed. The capabilities and limitations of Apple UIAutomation are discovered. Solutions aimed at overcoming the limitations of out of the box UIAutomation are united in tTap framework developed by the authors.
