This study aims to explore the design origins and philosophies behind the flower basket-shaped pouch, analyzing its characteristics in terms of shape, pattern and other decorative arts, as well as its function, in order to reveal its unique artistic appeal and cultural value. The article takes the flower basket-shaped pouch as the research object and uses various research methods, including design studies, field investigations, and iconographic and textual analysis, for a comprehensive and in-depth exploration. Three major conclusions are drawn. First, the design of the flower basket-shaped pouch is deeply influenced by traditional creation thought in ancient China. It is a product of the ancient creation principle of "learning from nature" and the creation philosophy of "vessels carrying the Dao". In terms of modeling techniques, it reflects the aesthetic orientation of "learning from nature", taking the flower basket as the prototype for creation, with vivid and realistic forms. In terms of cultural connotation, it reflects the creative wisdom of "vessels carrying the Dao", borrowing the form of a flower basket to carry the blessings of descendants reproduction and the renewal of all things. Second, the shape of the flower basket-shaped pouch seeks variation in unity. It combines a stable, harmonious structure with a wealth of intricate details, creating a visually rich yet cohesive effect. This showcases the artistic feature of "harmony in diversity". Its decorative motifs correspond to the cultural significance of the flower basket itself, and the connection between its appearance and the symbolic meanings of the patterns, along with the subtle metaphorical effect of color, embodies the artistic concept of "shape and meaning in harmony". Third, the flower basket-shaped pouch serves multiple functions. It not only serves as an auspicious decoration to bring good fortune into traditional living spaces, but also acts as a fragrant smoke screen to ward off illness and promote sleep. Additionally, it is a medium for women to display their craft and skill, as well as a carrier for expressing emotions. This article conducts a comprehensive and systematic study of the flower basket-shaped pouch, revealing its unique artistic appeal and cultural value. The research enriches the existing body of knowledge on pouches and provides a valuable perspective for exploring the cultural symbolism of traditional Chinese ornaments. Nowadays, modern design continues to draw inspiration from traditional craftsmanship, and studying such culturally rich artworks injects traditional elements and innovative ideas into contemporary fashion and accessories design.
